Technicians can email jobs, quotes, and attachments directly to anyone, even if their email address isn't already saved in the system. This guide walks you through how to use the Custom Email field on your mobile device using the FieldAware Mobile App.
Note: A Cellular or Wi-Fi connection is required for the email to transmit.
Using the Custom Email Field
1. Access the “Send” Screen
Open a Job or Quote on your mobile app.
Tap Send Job, Send Quote, or Send Attachments.
You’ll land on the Select Recipients screen.
2. Enter a Custom Email Address
Scroll to the Custom Email section, titled "Custom Email".
You’ll see a To: input field where you can type an email address.
This field is not auto-focused — you need to tap on it to begin.
Note: Tapping the field opens the keyboard, which is optimized for email (with @ and . symbols visible).
3. Use Autocomplete from Your Contacts
As you type, the app will show autocomplete suggestions if any of the contacts saved in your phone match the characters you've entered.
Tap a suggestion to quickly fill in the address.
4. Add Multiple Recipients
Once you've typed a valid email address, it will convert into a “chip” — a styled label that confirms it's been accepted.
You can then continue typing to add additional recipients.
The input field will grow vertically to accommodate multiple email addresses, just like in your device’s Mail app.
5. Use the (+) Icon to Access Your Phone Contacts
Tap the + icon next to the Custom Email field.
This will open your device's native Contact picker.
Select one or more email addresses from your saved contacts to quickly populate the recipient list.
Email Address Tips
Make sure each address is well-formed (e.g., name@example.com).
If an email is invalid, it won’t convert into a chip and may prevent sending.
Email Example
Here's an example of what an emailed job will look like for the recipient.
