The FieldAware Sandbox is your dedicated, risk-free environment for hands-on learning and experimentation. Whether you’re training new team members, testing new workflows, or exploring features before rolling them into daily operations, the Sandbox gives you room to explore—without affecting your live production data.
Note: This feature is available by request at an additional cost. If you are interested in this feature, please contact Support.
You can access the Sandbox anytime at https://sandbox1.fieldaware.net, and it fully supports both the web and mobile FieldAware apps.
Important Notes
Admins get automatic access: All Admin roles have Sandbox access enabled by default in both production and sandbox environments—no extra configuration required.
Your Sandbox data stays safely isolated: Everything you do in the Sandbox remains in the Sandbox. Actions taken here will never affect your production environment.
Sandbox data is temporary: Keep in mind:
If your Sandbox is re-provisioned, the latest snapshot of your production data will overwrite all existing Sandbox data.
Plan accordingly if you’re storing test scenarios or training setups.
Invitations must come from the Sandbox itself: Users who have been granted access can only be invited from within the active Sandbox environment after provisioning.
Accessing Your Sandbox
Once your Sandbox environment has been successfully provisioned and is live, you can easily access it from within your production account.
Log in to your production environment.
Click on your user icon in the top-right corner.
A dropdown menu will appear.
In this menu, locate the new section labeled “Sandboxes.”
This section displays the date and time your Sandbox was last provisioned or refreshed.
Click the provided Sandbox link to open your Sandbox environment in a new tab.
Admins: How to grant and invite other users to the Sandbox?
Follow the steps below to enable Sandbox access for any user in your FieldAware production account:
Navigate to the Registered Users list in your FieldAware production environment.
Select the applicable user to grant Sandbox access.
Open the user’s record and click “Edit.”
Locate and enable the checkbox labeled “Has Sandbox Access.”
Click “Save” to apply the change.
After you’ve granted a user Sandbox access, you’ll need to send their invitation:
While viewing the user’s record in your production account, click “Invite User to Sandbox.”
The user will receive an email containing:A direct link to the Sandbox environment
Instructions for logging in via the web or mobile app
Guidance on how to switch back to the production environment when they’re done
This ensures the user has everything they need to access and navigate the Sandbox confidently.
Inviting Multiple Users to the Sandbox
After granting Sandbox access to your team members, you can send invitations in bulk to help everyone get started quickly.
Here’s how to invite multiple users at once:
Navigate to the Registered Users list in the Sandbox environment.
Add the “Has Sandbox Access” column using the Display Grid Columns option.
Create a Saved Filter (skip this step if you already have one):
a. Click “Filter.”
b. Select “Has Sandbox Access” from the dropdown list.
c. Set the operator to “IS” and the value to “Yes.”
d. Name the filter (e.g., “Sandbox Access = Yes”).
e. Click “Save This View.”Your view will now show all users who have been granted Sandbox access.
Select the users you want to invite—either by using mass select or by checking them individually.
Once selected, the “Sandbox Actions” dropdown becomes available. Choose “Invite User(s) to Sandbox.”
Confirm the action in the modal pop-up to send the invitations.
Note: Users with the Admin role have Sandbox access by default, but it is still helpful to invite them. This ensures they receive the email containing direct links and instructions for accessing the Sandbox environment.
Users
Logging in is easy; use your existing production username and password.
Access via FieldAware Mobile app
Tap the sandbox deep link provided in the email for mobile users.
Log in using your production credentials.
A banner will indicate that you are in Sandbox mode.
Wait for the initial sync to complete.
Once the sync is complete, you can use the FieldAware Mobile app in Sandbox mode as you would if you were connected to the production environment
Returning to Mobile App Production Environment
Tap this link -> https://auth.fieldaware.com/set?url=https://auth.fieldaware.com
Follow the onscreen prompts.
Log in with your production credentials.
Wait for the initial sync to complete.
Note: All data previously synced to your device from Sandbox will be lost. Syncing to Production will pull in the Production data associated with your user, including jobs, assets, tasks, etc.
Revoking Access to Sandbox
Individual User
If you need to remove a user’s ability to access the Sandbox, an Admin can do so from either the production environment or the Sandbox itself. Follow these steps:
Open the user’s record in FieldAware.
Click “Edit.”
Disable the “Grant Sandbox Access” toggle.
Click “Save.”
Important Behavior Differences
Revoking access works slightly differently depending on where you make the change:
Revoking in the Sandbox environment
The change takes effect immediately. The next time the user attempts to log in, they will be unable to access the Sandbox.Revoking in the Production environment
The change becomes effective only after your Sandbox is reprovisioned.
Once the reprovisioning is complete—and the new Sandbox is created—the user(s) with revoked access will no longer be able to log in.
This distinction ensures that Sandbox access remains consistent with your data provisioning cycle.
Multiple Users
If you need to remove Sandbox access for several users at once, you can quickly do so from within the Sandbox environment. Follow the steps below:
Navigate to the Registered Users list in the Sandbox environment.
Use the Display Grid Columns option to add the “Has Sandbox Access” column to your view.
Create a Saved Filter (skip this step if you already have one):
a. Click “Filter.”
b. Choose “Has Sandbox Access” from the dropdown list.
c. Set the filter operator to “IS” and the value to “Yes.”
d. Give the new filter a name (e.g., “Sandbox Access = Yes”).
e. Click “Save This View.”Your list will now display all users who currently have Sandbox access.
Select the users you wish to update—either by using mass select or by checking users individually using the checkbox column.
Once users are selected, the “Sandbox Actions” dropdown becomes active. Open it and choose “Revoke Access.”
This bulk action makes it easy to manage Sandbox permissions efficiently, especially when onboarding or offboarding groups of users.
