Some locations require technicians to have permits such as security clearance, site induction, or safety training before carrying out work. Sending an under-qualified technician to site is costly and gives a bad impression to the customer.

Using the Location Permits feature, you can administer the permits required by your business.

In the Company Settings area, create the permit(s) you require. Two default permits are available - Security Clearance and Safety Training. You can edit or archive these as you see fit, or create new permits.

Setting up a new Location Permit

Imagine a location that requires a Confined Space Entry Permit. This is the first time that you have had a customer/location that requires such a permit, and you have no technicians who are qualified in this area.

Firstly you need to create the new permit in the system. You can do this via the Company Settings area of the webapp or via the API.

Add the permit to the Location

In the Locations section, find the location that requires the permit, and add it as a requirement for that location. Now, when you schedule manually or use the Smart Scheduler, Confined Space Entry Permit will be a requirement of that location.

Add the permit to Users

Finally you must add the permit to one or more users. If this is not done, the Smart Scheduler will not be able to assign work to any technicians. If you are carrying out manual scheduling, you can override this requirement but it will result in a warning.

To add the permit to a user, navigate to the User Record and add the permit there.
