What's new in this release?

We've made significant improvements to Jobs and Quotes in the mobile app to streamline your workflow and ensure accurate time tracking. This guide will walk you through the new features and how they benefit you.

A new rule has been introduced that restricts mobile users to being active on only one job at a time. This change helps prevent double-counting of working time or travel time. It also helps keep the Scheduler view (web) clutter-free because long-running jobs will be a thing of the past.

How It Works

  • When the setting below is enabled, a technician can only have one job in an "Active" (started) or "Traveling" state at any given time. Go to Company Settings > Mobile Settings to enable this feature.

  • When you switch on the rule in your business, technicians with multiple active jobs on their device will be guided to resolve them with minimal disruption (see below).

Good to Know

When this setting is switched on, it applies to all mobile users in your company.

In Enterprise Model businesses, the setting is at the Organization Level. It will apply to users in all Branches when switched on.

If you do not use Travel Time in your business then the Single Active Job restriction only applies to Started jobs.

Benefits

  • Improved accuracy in time tracking

  • Simplified job workflow

  • Reduced errors in billing and payroll

  • Cleaner Scheduler views

Workflow Improvements

Seamless Job Transitions

We've enhanced the mobile app to allow for smoother transitions between jobs:

  1. While working on Job 1 (J1), you can now start your next job (J2) without stopping J1 first.

  2. The app will guide you through the process of pausing, completing, or stopping your activity on J1.

  3. This improvement minimizes interruptions to your work and creates a more efficient flow.

Multiple Active Jobs Resolution

If you find yourself with multiple active or traveling jobs, don't worry! We've implemented features to help you resolve this situation with minimal disruption:

  • The app will prompt you to review and update the status of your active jobs.

  • You can quickly pause, complete, or stop travel on jobs as needed.

Active (Started) Jobs Only

If you have one or more Active jobs on your device, when you go to start a new one, you will be shown a list of all past Active jobs that need resolution:

When you have Paused or Completed all of those jobs, you will see an empty screen with a button that returns you to the job you started from:

Traveling Jobs Only

If you have one or more Traveling jobs on your device, when you go to start a new one, you will be asked if you want to stop Travel.

When you confirm, it will automatically stop travel on those jobs and provide you with a feedback message. You will remain within the job you started from, so you can continue your work with minimal disruption.

Active on Traveling on Multiple Jobs

If you find yourself traveling and active on multiple jobs:

  • You will see a combined prompt to help you manage the situation efficiently.

Additional Details

Job Leads and Crew Jobs

For Job Leads starting a crew job:

  • You will only be prompted about job status if you start the job yourself.

    • We cannot detect if a crew member is active on a job on another device

FieldAware Web App Exception

  • There are no restrictions on being active on multiple jobs when using the web application.

  • This is to allow for managers and admins to update and remedy Job Time Logs and resolve other issues.

Best Practices

  1. The mobile app will prevent users being active on more than one job, so supervisors on the web should ensure they don't leave a technician's jobs in Active or Traveling states as this will cause interrupts

  2. Mobile users should use the app's prompts to manage job transitions smoothly

  3. If you're a Job Lead, be mindful of your crew members' job statuses.

Conclusion

These improvements are designed to make your work easier and more efficient. By following this guide, you'll be able to take full advantage of the new features and maintain accurate time tracking for all your jobs.
